law, civil litigation, workers' compensation law (WCB), and
aboriginal rights law. We have long careers dealing
with labour arbitrations, representation before the
BC and Canada labour relations boards,
employment law, including wrongful dismissal, workers'
compensation appeals, and judicial review of administrative
tribunals. Our civil litigation practise includes plaintiff-side
ICBC and other personal injury work, disability benefits
litigation, and contract disputes. The firm represents
various non-profit societies, including student
unions and societies in the social services field. We
also have experience training union representatives
in grievance handling, arbitration, workers' compensation
representation and contract interpretation. We are able
to offer a broad range of legal services to workers
and their unions.

2011 WCB Advocacy Workshops
Sarah O'Leary and Janet Patterson, lawyers at Rush Crane Guenther, are offering a series of half day courses on Workers' Compensation Advocacy. Each course focuses on a specialized topic.
Courses are held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with lunch provided, at either the Maritime Labour Centre or at the RCG offices in Gastown. The courses will consist of 2 hours of instruction followed by a Q and A session over lunch, providing opportunity for networking as well as information and questions. Fee for each course is $110, including lunch:

Detailed course descriptions will be provided in response to email requests. To register, email either Sarah O'Leary (so@rcga.com) or Janet Patterson (jp@rcga.com) noting course and date. Payment should be made by cheque payable to Rush Crane Guenther, marked "WCB Courses", and mailed to #300-111 Water Street, Vancouver BC V6B 1A7, no later than 2 weeks before each course date. Courses with insufficient enrolment may be cancelled so be sure to register early.
These courses are restricted to staff reps, paralegals and lawyers representing workers through their unions, subject to exceptions at the discretion of the instructors. Please contact Janet or Sarah for further information.

April 2009 - Report to BC Fed on WCB
The British Columbia Federation of Labour in April 2009 released a report co-authored by Stan Guenther, Janet Patterson and Sarah O'Leary, concerning the state of the workers' compensation system in British Columbia:
